Homelessness in NYC

Helping New Yorkers Help Others

Homelessness is a complex citywide issue, and many New Yorkers don’t know how to help when they see someone in need. DCF developed a public-service campaign encouraging residents to call NYC 311, activating trained outreach teams from the NYC Department of Health and the NYC Department of Homeless Services to connect individuals experiencing homelessness with shelter, medical care, and critical support. By positioning 311 as a simple, compassionate point of action, the campaign empowered the public to play a role in helping vulnerable New Yorkers access services and care.
