Just in Case

Putting Lifesaving Naloxone Within Reach

Naloxone is a safe and effective medication that can reverse an opioid overdose, and having it nearby can mean the difference between life and death. To increase awareness and access, DCF collaborated with the NYC Department of Health to launch “Just in Case,” a citywide campaign encouraging New Yorkers to carry naloxone and be prepared to help save a life.

Built around a simple idea, carry naloxone just in case, the campaign makes overdose preparedness feel approachable and relevant to everyday New Yorkers. By positioning the small, easy-to-carry kit as something anyone can keep on hand, the campaign reinforces that you don’t have to be a medical professional to be prepared to respond to an opioid overdose.

The campaign also connects New Yorkers directly to free naloxone, including kits delivered by mail and virtual training on how to use them. Appearing across newspapers, radio, social media, LinkNYC kiosks, and other public spaces, “Just in Case” helps put a lifesaving tool into more hands and empowers New Yorkers to look out for one another.
